It all began in 1945 when David TREHARNE Senior laid the foundation for what would become an enduring family legacy that spans decades and generations. His passion for the sea and commitment to craftsmanship propelled Treharne Moorings into the forefront of the industry, setting the standard for quality and reliability.
In the early 2000s, David’s son Hugh Treharne OAM, continued the family tradition of excellence. Under his leadership, the company embraced modern engineering advancements while preserving the time-tested values that had become synonymous with the Treharne name. Hugh's commitment to innovation and unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction further solidified Treharne Moorings' reputation as a trusted authority in the field. Hugh was regularly called upon by industry bodies and government agencies to share his expertise and provide a framework for mooring standards.
Hugh is one of Australia’s greatest sailors. He was tactician on The America’s Cup-winning Australia II in 1983, a renowned 16ft and 18ft Skiff sailor, a widely recognised sailmaker and a world champion blue water yachtsman. In acknowledgement of his extensive list of achievements, Hugh was inducted into The Boating Industry Hall of Fame in 2013.
In 2017, the legacy continued with Hugh’s son Robbie Treharne, the torchbearer of the third generation. Building upon the foundation laid by his predecessors, Robbie brings a fresh perspective and a forward-thinking approach to the helm.
